Every year, pro-life Democrats march at the annual March for Life. And every year, we meet people who are surprised to see us there. Some don’t realize that pro-life Democrats exist, let alone that there are more than 20 million of us and that we represent between a quarter and a third of the Democratic Party. Others ask how we can be members of the Democratic Party when its position on abortion is so extreme and contrary to the goals of the pro-life movement.

Saginaw County Right to Life is proud to be working with the national 40 Days for Life Movement. From September 27 to November 5, our community is taking part in 40 Days for Life … a groundbreaking, coordinated international mobilization. We pray that, with God’s help, this will mark the beginning of the end of abortion in our city — and beyond.

If you would like to participate sign up for time at 40 Days for Life (be sure to review the guidance at that link on where we are permitted to pray, park, and other standards we must uphold) Prayer hours onsite at the Saginaw are available from 7AM – 7PM every day. Last year popular rapper Nick Cannon made some waves when on a morning radio program he openly and unapologetically declared that abortion was “population control” and “eugenics” for certain communities. Later after the comments a reporter tracked him down at an airport where he doubled down.

From the article – “Nick Cannon stood firm on his statements against the organization while talking to TMZ. ‘It’s population control,’ the 36-year-old said of Planned Parenthood, adding that it is ‘modern day eugenics.’

Choose Life License Plate for Michigan Enters Home Stretch

Michigan is in the process of joining 31 other States in offering a “Choose Life” custom license plate option for its residents. Show your support by contacting Gov. Rick Snyder’s office at 517-373-3400 with this message: “Governor Snyder we are praying for you and ask for your support of the women and children who will be helped by the Choose Life license plate.”

Legislation to create the Choose Life plate passed in a bipartisan 65 to 43 vote in the Michigan House on May 25. It first passed the Senate on April 28 by a 25 to 11 vote and received a final procedural vote on June 6.

A Choose Life license plate would cost $35, with $10 paying for the cost of manufacturing the plate. The extra $25 in fees would go to a Choose Life Michigan fund. Grants from the fund will be given to specific projects to promote adoption and other alternatives to abortion, provide practical help to pregnant women, and suicide prevention programs.

Michigan would become the 32nd state to offer a Choose Life license plate as an option to their citizens. Michigan would have the only Choose Life plate in the nation that also funds suicide prevention efforts. It’s time for Michigan to join every other state on the I-75 corridor down to Florida. Many Michiganders see Choose Life plates while driving in other states and they want the same opportunity for us to increase support for pregnant women in need.

Choose Life plates would first be available in 2018 if signed into law. The Secretary of State must approve the design of the new plate and then work through the manufacturing and distribution process, which takes approximately nine months. The plate design has not been finalized yet.

March for Life Changes Minds
