Going forward President Trump will most likely get one more pick, as retirement rumors swirl around Justices Ginsberg, Breyer, and Kennedy (Ginsberg and Breyer are consistent liberal / pro-choice votes, while Kennedy is a swing vote). If President Trump gets a second term, he will likely replace all three of them with his nominees, and possibly Clarence Thomas as well. After they are replaced another vacancy is not likely until 2030, due to the ages of the serving Justices and current retirement and life expectancy trends. This would leave President Trump with the unprecedented situation of having been in a position to select half of the serving Justices of the Court, or even more than half.
